KBS will not banned Park Shi Hoo

Now that the Park Shi Hoo case has been dismissed, his fans are wondering how the networks will respond.
So far, only KBS has issued a statement saying that he is not on the list of actors whose appearance they have banned.
Last month, all three stations declined to place him on such a list, saying that the court case had not yet been decided. Now that the case has been dropped, KBS made its decision.
"Park Shi Hoo was not included on the most recent list of named banned from KBS broadcast," said a representative for the station. "His case was dropped and the investigations have come to a close. Because of this, he's not included on the ban list."
Others whose status is still pending include actresses Park Si Yeon, Lee Seung Yeon and Jang Mi In Ae, because of the ongoing investigation into their Propofol abuse, and MC Kim Yong Man for his illegal sports gambling.
All three stations banned singer Go Young Wook, who was sentenced to five years of jail for sexual assault and relations with minors.
The Park Shi Hoo case began in February when a trainee actress, known as "A" accused Park Shi Hoo of sexual assault after they spent the night together. He claimed their relations were consensual. The Seoul Police forwarded the case for prosecution but then last week, the actress withdrew all charges. The dismissal of the case and the fact that Park Shi Hoo is not on the banned list does not mean that he will be seen in any shows on those stations.
"Even if he's not banned, it's still up in the air if he'll ever appear on a broadcast again," said the statement by KBS. "Public opinion of him has been affected and is not so positive."
No information has been released on why "A" dropped the charges. Neither "A" nor Park Shi Hoo have made any statements.
The actor was recently quoted as saying that the incident has been traumatic for his whole family. His reputation has been damaged. His promising career, which included a recent appearance in the dramas "Cheomdamdung Alice," "Prosecutor Princess" and the "Princess' Man," has been derailed and it is difficult to say if the scandal will affect his career permanently or only temporarily.
His fans say that he has not been proven guilty and is being judged unfairly for having a one-night stand. But other netizens say that he is now permanently linked to the rape scandal. With plenty of talented scandal-free actors competing for roles, he does not stand a chance of a comeback. But that remains to be seen.

Song Seung Hun Described by Kim Hee Sun "He Wasn't Handsome in Middle School"

"Hwashin" Actress Kim Hee Sun expressed her relationship with actor Song Seung Hun.
During a recent episode of the SBS TV show "One Night TV Entertainment", Kim Hee Sun revealed, "Song Seung Hun and I have been friends since we were in middle school."
When someone joked, "Do you keep in touch only with good looking people?" Kim Hee Sun answered, "He wasn't that good looking in middle school."
Kim Hee Sun added, "I heard that he used to follow me around when I was in the Girl Scouts" and quickly added "I'm just joking."

Baek Ji Young Pregnant Jung Suk Won child

Baek Ji Young shared her reason for not revealing her pregnancy until now.
Baek Ji Young’s agency WS Entertainment officially announced on May 14, “When Baek Ji Young and Jung Suk Won announced their wedding plans last month, they knew about her pregnancy. At the time, Baek Ji Young was going to reveal her pregnancy but the agency was worried about the people’s reactions about it so we denied it.”
They continued, “A pregnancy is very personal and needs a lot of care. Especially since Baek Ji Young is at her early stages of pregnancy at a fairly late age, she needs to take extra precaution. So we were worried that netizens would make hateful comments and scar the couple.”
They also revealed that Baek Ji Young wanted to reveal her pregnancy to her fans during her solo concert on May 11. But when Jung Suk Won came on stage for a surprise proposal event, she lost her timing to do so.
The agency went on, “The couple wanted to reveal this news at the actual wedding on June 2 but since the news was suddenly revealed through an acquaintance, Baek Ji Young is very upset.”
They continued, “Even before feeling the miracle, joy and responsibility of a new life, Baek Ji Young is suffering from the hateful comments and excessive attention,” and “Since all of those things can be poisonous to the heart, especially at the most important, early stages of her pregnancy, we ask that you refrain from making hateful comments.”
Meanwhile, it was revealed that Baek Ji Young is currently nine weeks pregnant and she is preparing for her wedding with Jung Suk Won in June.

Park Shi Hoo Scandal Case is Over

And then suddenly it was over. The case everyone was talking about, in which a trainee actress accused actor Park Shi Hoo of sexual assault, looked like it would go on indefinitely. But without any explanation, the trainee, known as "A," has dropped all charges against Park Shi Hoo, and in turn he dropped his countersuit against her.
Did they settle out of court? If so, how much did they settle for? And if they did, was it really rape or just a case of both parties having made poorly thought out, soju-inspired choices? Was new evidence found, evidence that weakened the actress' case? The reasons may never be known. But the damage has been done to both Park Shi Hoo's career and that of the trainee actress.
No reasons were given when the prosecution announced yesterday that the actress retracted her lawsuit. According to the prosecution, "On May 9, A's lawyers filed papers to drop the suit. For cases of sexual assault, if the suit is dropped, then prosecution no longer has the authority to indict."
After they spent a night together, in February, "A" filed charges against Park Shi Hoo, claiming he sexually assaulted her. He claimed their relations were consensual but she said they barely knew each other and she was too drunk to consent. Witnesses at the restaurant where they had dinner with friends said the actress was not drunk. Nor were any date rape drugs found in her system. Also, texts between the actress and a friend in the next few days discussed asking Park Shi Hoo for a large amount of money.
With such evidence working on the actor's behalf, it seemed like the case was going in his favor, but prompted by the results of lie detector tests, the police sent the case for prosecution. Both Park Shi Hoo and his friend Mr. Kim were indicted. Park counter-sued "A," as well as the CEO of his former agency and A's friend, known only as "B." Those counter suits are also in the process of being dropped, say the actor's representatives.
When the actor's legal team criticized the way the police handled the case, and gave the media some evidence of their own, a civil group sued the actor and his legal team for divulging information about trainee "A." Leaking information about a victim of sexual assault is against the law. However, now that the case against Park Shi Hoo has been dropped, that case may also be canceled, as trainee "A" is no longer technically a rape victim.
Park Shi Hoo's fans are relieved that his name was cleared but it may be a while before the actor works again.

How Kdramas May Change The Way We Speak

If you watch Kdramas, you may have noticed that plenty of English words have been incorporated into Korean, forming a language that some refer to as Konglish. For example, some kdrama characters live in an officetel, which is roughly translated to mean office plus hotel or a place you can stay close to your office.
And unless they are in a historical drama, kdrama characters never go anywhere without their haendeupon, which is a hand or cell phone.
They may play a geim or game, watch a bideo or video, eat chokollit or chocolate and down that with a cup of keopi or coffee.
then they might take the beoseu or bus-or at the very least try to chase it down because the love of their life is on it.
Until recently, Korean has absorbed a lot more English words and concepts than English has absorbed Korean words. Most Korean words that entered the English language have to do with food and drink. Think bimbambop or soju, although neither of those is necessarily easy to find. The only word that has really gone mainstream is the martial arts term, taekwondo.
However, the growing popularity of kdramas is leading to new variants on Konglish, which may introduce some words and concepts into the American language. If you've ever wondered what the following terms mean, when used either in the dramas or in fan discussions thereafter, here's a quick definition:
Chaebol: The son (or daughter) of a conglomerate. Always rich, although sometimes temporarily cut off from his or her inheritance due to a family feud. Usually annoying, vain or standoffish although this is not necessarily the case with real life chaebols.
Candy girl: As the name might imply, she is sweet. She is also a hardworking, ethical  Cinderella type who perseveres despite the odds.
Skinship: You may have heard a character say, "but no skinship." That means physical displays of affection although the kdrama definition is sure to be more conservative than an American might imagine. Handholding, for example, could be included.
Fan service: Giving fans what they want, whether it's one of those shower scenes that has nothing to do with the plot or the suggestion of a relationship between two characters or performers. The first few episodes of "When A Man Loves A Woman" offer some examples, with Song Seung Hoon changing his clothes for no apparent reason other than getting female fans interested in his character.
Chocolate abs: This relates back to the fan service. The highly defined abs of kdrama leading men when they are engaging in fan service are said to resemble neatly cut bars of chocolate.
Bagel girl: A girl with a baby face and glamorous body
Um-chin-ah for umma chingoo ahdeul: Mom's friend's son, a perfect candidate to be set up on a blind date with.
And many kdrama fans find they now incorporate expressions of frustration such as "aish" and "aegyo" to into their daily vocabulary just because they have heard them so often. Has kdrama talk changed the way you speak? Let share it.
